The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of Oke-Afa Bridge in Isolo for three weeks to allow rehabilitation works to be carried out on the bridge.
The closure will run from Friday, August 28, to September 18, 2026, and will be implemented in two phases.
The first phase, covering the outbound Isolo-to-Ejigbo axis, will run from August 28 to September 11. During this period, motorists travelling from Isolo towards Ejigbo will be diverted onto the Isolo-bound carriageway at Pako Roundabout. Traffic will move in both directions along the carriageway before rejoining the main carriageway at Mobil Filling Station.
Motorists travelling from Ejigbo towards Isolo will maintain free movement, sharing the carriageway with Ejigbo-bound traffic between Mobil Filling Station and Pako Roundabout. They will regain full access to the road after the roundabout.
The second phase will run from September 12 to September 18 and will affect the inbound Ejigbo-to-Isolo section. Motorists travelling from Ejigbo towards Isolo will be diverted onto the Ejigbo-bound carriageway at Mobil Filling Station. Traffic will move in both directions before rejoining the main carriageway at Pako Roundabout.
Meanwhile, motorists travelling from Isolo towards Ejigbo will maintain free movement, sharing the carriageway with Isolo-bound traffic between Pako Roundabout and Mobil Filling Station before regaining full access to the road.
In a statement, the state Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority would be deployed to the area to manage vehicular movement and minimise congestion throughout the rehabilitation period.
He added that an emergency tow vehicle would also be stationed in the area to provide prompt recovery services for vehicles that break down during the works.
The state government urged motorists to cooperate with traffic management officials and exercise patience during the temporary closure.
“Motorists are implored to be patient, as the partial road closure forms part of the traffic management plan for the rehabilitation works on Oke-Afa Bridge, Isolo LGA,” the statement said.
