The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in Osun State, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro, has withdrawn from the race and declared his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
Adeyemi-Doro announced his decision at a media conference in Osogbo on Saturday, urging his supporters and members of APGA to vote for Oyebamiji in the election.
He said the decision followed a series of consultations with his supporters, party members, the state chairman, secretary and other senior officials of the party.
According to Adeyemi-Doro, his assessment of the candidates in the race led him to conclude that backing Oyebamiji was consistent with what he described as their shared progressive orientation.
He expressed confidence that the political alliance would strengthen Oyebamiji’s chances of winning the election.
Reacting to the endorsement, Oyebamiji welcomed Adeyemi-Doro’s decision and assured him and members of APGA that he would run an inclusive administration if elected governor.
The APC candidate also said his campaign remained open to working with political groups and individuals committed to the development and progress of Osun State.
