The All Progressives Congress (APC) has retained Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election, ending months of speculation over the party’s vice-presidential candidate.

The party formally submitted the names of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima as its presidential ticket for the election.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja after the submission, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka expressed confidence that the ruling party would secure another mandate in the 2027 general election.

Following the formal unveiling of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket after a stakeholders’ meeting, Vice President Shettima met with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The closed-door meeting, held at the President’s office, was to express Shettima’s appreciation for being retained as the APC’s vice-presidential candidate.

His retention puts to rest months of speculation over whether President Tinubu would pick a new running mate ahead of the 2027 polls.

By retaining the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, the APC has reaffirmed its confidence in the leadership team that won the 2023 presidential election and will seek a second term in office.
