Atiku, Amaechi submit ADC presidential nomination forms

Amaechi and Atiku both submitted their nomination forms on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi have formally submitted their presidential nomination forms under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

The two leading aspirants submitted their forms on Thursday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, officially signalling the start of their campaigns for the ADC presidential ticket.

In a post on X accompanied by photos from the event, Atiku described his candidacy as part of a broader national movement aimed at restoring hope and prosperity to Nigeria.

“The march to restore prosperity and better days to our beloved nation took a firm and decisive step forward today at the National Secretariat of our great party, the African Democratic Congress,” Atiku wrote.

“This is more than a political journey; it is a national movement rooted in hope, renewal and the collective resolve to rescue Nigeria from despair.”

He also called on Nigerians across regional, religious and political lines to support the movement.

“Together, we will restore the promise of our nation and bring good times back again,” he added.

Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, also confirmed his submission in a separate post on X, saying he had officially entered the race to help rebuild the country.

“Today, I submitted my presidential nomination forms at the ADC Secretariat, officially throwing my hat into the ring to salvage our country, Nigeria,” Amaechi said.

“The mission is clear — to restore dignity to Nigerians, rebuild our nation’s respect globally, and deliver unity, peace, prosperity and progress for our people.”

The ADC had earlier released its timetable for the 2026 primary elections.

According to the party, primaries for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate positions will begin on May 21, 2026, with elections taking place simultaneously at the ward level.

Governorship primaries are scheduled for May 22, while the party’s presidential primary will be held on May 25, 2026.
