President Bola Tinubu arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, in the early hours of Monday ahead of the Africa-France Summit, which opens later in the day.
The presidential Airbus A330-200 touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at about 12:15 a.m. local time, according to a statement issued by the State House media office.
Tinubu’s visit to Kenya — his second since assuming office in July 2023 — forms the second leg of a three-nation diplomatic tour that began in France, where he met with global investors and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to fiscal discipline and economic reforms.
The Africa-France Summit, co-hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, will hold from May 11 to May 12.
Held under the theme, “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” the summit will focus on key issues including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, reform of the global financial system and climate action.
The Presidency said Tinubu’s participation reflects Nigeria’s commitment to deepening strategic partnerships with African countries and France.
According to the statement, the President is expected to deliver an address outlining his administration’s economic reform agenda and efforts to position Nigeria as a leading destination for investment and sustainable growth.
Tinubu is also scheduled to hold a series of high-level bilateral meetings with African leaders, international investors and top business executives on the sidelines of the summit.
Following the Nairobi meeting, the President will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, for the Africa CEO Forum slated for May 14 to 15.
He is expected back in Nigeria after the Rwanda leg of the trip, ahead of the All Progressives Congress presidential primary scheduled for May 23.
