The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, has announced temporary road closures in preparation for the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled for Monday, April 6, 2026.
According to a post on the state’s official X account on Friday, the affected areas include King George V Road at the junction by Mobil Filling Station, Onikan Roundabout inbound to TBS, Flagstaff House inbound to TBS, Outer Marina by State House inbound to TBS, Campbell Street by the Old Defence Building, and Catholic Mission Street by St. Nicholas Church.
“All closures will commence from 7:00 a.m. on the day of the event. Motorists and residents are advised to plan alternative routes and expect traffic delays around the affected areas,” the post read.
The state government expressed regret for any inconvenience and thanked the public for their cooperation during the carnival.
The Lagos Fanti Carnival, an annual cultural festival organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, celebrates Lagos’ vibrant arts, music, dance, and heritage. The event typically features parades, street performances, and cultural displays, attracting large crowds of residents and tourists and often causing traffic congestion in central areas.
