Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) moved on Monday to enforce forfeiture proceedings on properties in Abuja linked to former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.
EFCC operatives, accompanied by armed security personnel, arrived at the sites to mark the properties, an action that was met with resistance from Malami and others present.
In a video obtained by The Telegraph, Malami is seen confronting an EFCC official, demanding to see a valid court order authorising the marking and potential takeover of the properties. The official insisted the Commission was acting within its powers, noting that the properties were already under a forfeiture order.
Malami, however, disputed the claim, arguing that any such order had expired and challenging the EFCC to produce documentation supporting the action.
During the operation, one of the properties was visibly marked with the inscription: “Restrained order EFCC keep off.”
