Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf on Monday met with President Bola Tinubu to outline his administration’s priorities on security, infrastructure development, and enhanced collaboration with the Federal Government.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, the closed-door meeting provided an opportunity to brief the President on key challenges and development opportunities in Kano, with a particular focus on rising insecurity in parts of the state.
The statement said Governor Yusuf drew the President’s attention to the recent killing of a housewife and her children, describing the incident as tragic and underscoring the need for decisive federal intervention to strengthen security operations and protect lives.
Yusuf highlighted the contributions of the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch Corps in supporting conventional security agencies and called for closer collaboration with federal security institutions to enhance intelligence gathering and rapid response.
The governor also outlined Kano’s development agenda, placing emphasis on major infrastructure projects designed to stimulate economic growth and create jobs. He used the meeting to express appreciation to the President for the federal intervention on the Wujuwuju Road, describing it as a critical project for unlocking economic activity in the state.
In addition, Yusuf appealed for federal support to fast-track ongoing and proposed projects in Kano, noting that stronger cooperation would enable the state to benefit more fully from federal programmes and investments.
Bature said President Tinubu assured the governor of the Federal Government’s commitment to partnering with Kano State to address insecurity and promote sustainable development.
“President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to work closely with Kano State to tackle security challenges and drive inclusive and sustainable development,” the statement added.
