Tinubu arrives Abu Dhabi for sustainability summit

President Bola Tinubu on Sunday arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to participate in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

His aircraft landed at Zayed International Airport at around 11:30 pm local time, where he was received by Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Tinubu’s visit follows an official invitation from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The annual summit provides a global platform for world leaders, industry experts, and civil society organisations to discuss energy innovation and the financial infrastructure needed for renewable energy transitions.

According to Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the visit highlights the growing partnership between Nigeria and the UAE, particularly in green energy and economic cooperation.

During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to position Nigeria as a key player in sustainable development, aiming to attract foreign investment and forge partnerships aligned with the country’s growth objectives.

The 2026 edition, themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” emphasizes turning climate ambitions into action through three core pillars: innovation, finance, and people.
