The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced that its Passport Digital Platform will undergo routine system maintenance, leading to temporary service disruptions for users.

According to the service, the maintenance exercise will take place from 12:00 a.m. on 12 December to 6:00 a.m. on 14 December 2025 (GMT).

The announcement was contained in a public notice shared via the NIS’s official X handle on Friday and signed by its Public Relations Officer, ACI A. S. Akinlabi.

The agency explained that the scheduled maintenance is intended to enhance system performance and improve the overall user experience.

“The Nigeria Immigration Service wishes to inform the general public that it is carrying out routine maintenance on its Passport Digital Platform to enhance system performance and overall user experience.

“During this period, users will experience temporary service interruptions, slow response times, or limited access to selected NIS passport services,” the notice read.

The NIS appealed for public understanding, stressing that the exercise is essential to maintaining a secure and efficient digital passport system.

It added that its technical teams are “working round the clock to ensure full service restoration within the stated timeframe.”

Users who encounter difficulties during the maintenance window have been advised to contact the NIS support team via email at support@immigration.gov.ng or through the agency’s official social media channels.

In a related development, the service announced on Tuesday that it has activated temporary complaint-response channels on social media following the takedown of its support accounts.

The NIS said the new channels were created to ensure uninterrupted assistance for applicants experiencing challenges with passport and visa applications.

Affected users can now direct their complaints to the temporary X handles @InquireAtNaija, @nigimmigration, @InquireAtNaija_, as well as through the agency’s Instagram page.
