The management of the Ogun State–owned Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, has debunked a viral social media report claiming the institution was shut down following an alleged bandit invasion of Ijebu-Ode.
In a statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dapo Oke, the university described the circulating report as “malicious, misleading, and aimed at causing unnecessary panic within the university community and across the state.”
The false report had alleged that TASUED directed students to vacate their hostels due to a supposed security breach in Ijebu-Ode.
The university, however, clarified that no such instruction was ever issued and stressed that neither Ijebu-Ode nor the Ijagun campus was under any form of attack.
“There was never a closure of the institution, nor were students asked to leave their hostels. The environment in Ijebu-Ode and Ijagun remains peaceful and safe,” the statement said.
The institution assured students, staff, parents, alumni, and the public that academic and administrative activities were ongoing without disruption, adding that the safety and welfare of students remained its top priority.
It urged the public to disregard the fake report and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of causing fear.
“All staff and students are advised to go about their academic and lawful duties without any anxiety,” the statement added.
The university further cautioned members of the public to rely solely on its official communication channels for credible updates.
