Regina Daniels’ brother, Sammy granted N5 million bail

A court in Abuja has granted bail to Sammy Ojeogwu, brother of actress Regina Daniels, following several days in detention.

Ojeogwu was arrested in Lagos last week and later transferred to Abuja to face investigation over allegations including criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying.

According to Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT Police, Ojeogwu was accused alongside three other suspects. His arrest reportedly followed repeated failure to respond to police invitations for questioning.

The development comes amid the very public marital crisis between Regina Daniels and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko. The conflict gained widespread attention in October when a viral video showed the actress in tears, alleging domestic violence. In response, Nwoko claimed his wife struggled with drug and alcohol addiction.

The situation took a dramatic turn on Sunday when Daniels admitted to using hard drugs but suggested her husband was involved in her alleged substance use.

Daniels’ family had earlier accused Nwoko of orchestrating Sammy’s arrest, a claim that drew attention and support from within Nollywood. Actress Mercy Johnson publicly questioned the legality of the detention and called for his release.

The bail decision was announced on Monday. Actress Doris Ogala shared a video on Instagram showing the Daniels family—including Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, and Mercy Johnson—leaving the court premises after the hearing. Ogala expressed gratitude to the legal team representing the family.

Sammy Ojeogwu was granted bail of N5 million, though additional court conditions have not yet been disclosed. He had initially been remanded in Keffi Prison by a Dutse magistrate court on Thursday before being transferred to Suleja Prison.
