Tinubu vows to defeat terrorism, strengthen global partnerships

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to defeat terrorism and deepen diplomatic relations with Nigeria’s international partners.

“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all Nigerians that we will defeat terrorism,” the President declared on Thursday, shortly before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) entered a closed-door session at the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

“The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose, guided by the Renewed Hope Agenda, to build a prosperous Nigeria,” he added.

The meeting marked the first FEC gathering since July.

Tinubu’s remarks came just days after US President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern”, a decision the Federal Government described as a misrepresentation of the nation’s security situation.

In his first public reaction to the designation, the President said his administration is engaging the international community to promote security, stability, and economic growth.

“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners,” Tinubu said. “The success of the $2.3 billion Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, reflects confidence in our economy. The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose.”

The President also reaffirmed that Nigeria remains united and steadfast in its pursuit of peace and prosperity.

He commended members of his cabinet for their commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda and emphasized the need for unity and focus in implementing government reforms.
