Salah added another goal in stoppage time to seal the victory for Liverpool.
Mohamed Salah scored twice as Liverpool beat 10-man Everton 2-0 in the lunchtime game of matchday nine of the Premier League at Anfield Stadium, temporarily moving Jurgen Klopp’s side to the top of the league table.
Ashley Young’s red card was the highlight of the goalless first half. The former Manchester United defender was first cautioned in the 18th minute of the game before being sent off with a second yellow card following a challenge on Luis Diaz.
Despite playing against 10 players, Liverpool were unable to break the defensively-minded Everton until the 75th minute of the ‘Merseyside Derby’ when Salah scored from the penalty spot after Michael Keane handled the ball inside his own area, giving the Reds a penalty.
Salah added another goal in stoppage time to seal the victory for Liverpool. Pacy Darwin Nunez carried the ball from his own half into Everton’s third and passed it to the Egyptian, who calmly put the ball into the net.
After nine matches, Liverpool have won six, lost two, and recorded one draw, bringing the Reds’ season points tally to 20, ultimately placing them at the top of the league table until other games are concluded.
