SSANU, NASU protest in Abuja over unmet demands

SSANU, NASU Protest in Abuja.
Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) are protesting at the University of Abuja’s main campus.

The demonstration is part of a nationwide action declared by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of both unions, following the expiration of a two-week ultimatum issued to the Federal Government over unresolved welfare-related demands.

The protesting university workers are calling for the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement with the government, immediate payment of 25% and 35% salary increments, and the release of all withheld salaries.

Placards displayed during the protest carried messages urging the government to act swiftly to prevent an impending industrial crisis in the university system.
