The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has conferred an Honourary Doctor of Science degree on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, among other distinguished Nigerians.
The honorary degrees were awarded on Saturday during the institution’s 50th Anniversary celebration and 35th Convocation Ceremony.
Themed “The Role of Universities in Nation Building,” the event featured a convocation lecture that underscored the vital contribution of higher education to national development.
Other recipients of the honorary degree include former Katsina State Governor and current Chairman of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Aminu Bello Masari, and the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
