The Ogun State Police Command has launched an intensive investigation into the gruesome murder of a 16-year-old boy, Lawal Wahab, whose mutilated body was discovered along the Old Express Road in Igbile-Ijebu.
Wahab, who had been living with his grandmother, was reported missing earlier this month by his father, Mr. Lawal Olumide.
The tragic discovery was made on July 23, 2025, when local residents alerted the authorities to a decomposing body found in the area. Upon arrival, police officers confirmed the body was that of the missing boy.
According to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, a preliminary examination revealed that the boy’s head, both wrists, heart, and genitals had been removed, pointing to a suspected ritual killing.
“Acting on credible intelligence, officers from the Omu-Ijebu Division arrested two suspects — Salaeu Omikansola (25) and Serefusi Agemo — in connection with the crime,” Odutola said.
She added that one of the suspects has made a voluntary confession, which has been recorded on video and is now part of the case evidence.
Due to the advanced state of decomposition, Wahab’s body was buried in accordance with Islamic rites shortly after recovery.
SP Odutola further confirmed that the case file and all relevant exhibits are being prepared for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, for further investigation, while efforts continue to apprehend other suspects believed to be involved.
The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to nearby police stations.
