The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed that two senior aides of embattled Ahoada East Sole Administrator, Goodluck Iheanachor, who were earlier declared wanted in connection with an alleged assault, have voluntarily turned themselves in.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the police identified the individuals as Hector Ekakita, Chief Security Officer of the Local Government Area, and Aloni Olodi, Chief of Staff.
The duo presented themselves at the Police Headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2025.
They had been declared wanted on July 6 for alleged involvement in criminal conspiracy, assault occasioning harm, and theft. The charges stem from a violent incident that occurred on June 20 at the Ahoada East Council Secretariat, where the LG Administrator was reportedly assaulted by a group of about 30 individuals.
According to the statement, the suspects were received and initially interviewed by the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, and members of the Command’s management team. They were later transferred to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
The Police Command urged members of the public with relevant information to assist the ongoing inquiry and reiterated its commitment to a transparent and thorough investigation.
“We assure the public that due process will be followed and all individuals found culpable will be held accountable under the law,” the statement added.
The Rivers State Police Command reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining law and order and ensuring justice is served in accordance with the law.
