Newcastle boss Howe returns to work after pneumonia battle

Newcastle English Manager Eddie Howe
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has returned to work at the club’s training ground after recovering from pneumonia, the Premier League club confirmed on Thursday.

Howe, 47, was hospitalized earlier this month and missed Newcastle’s league matches against Manchester United, Crystal Palace, and Aston Villa.

“Newcastle United are delighted to confirm that Eddie Howe has resumed his duties at the club’s training centre,” the club said in a statement. “After a recent hospitalization for pneumonia, Eddie has now fully recovered and is back to work.”

The club also expressed their gratitude to fans, saying, “We thank supporters for their kind messages of support during this time.”

During Howe’s absence, assistant manager Jason Tindall stepped in to guide the team. Newcastle claimed impressive wins against Manchester United and Crystal Palace but suffered a heavy defeat to Aston Villa.

The Magpies, who lifted the League Cup last month, will look to regain momentum in their pursuit of a Champions League spot when they host struggling Ipswich on Saturday. A top-five finish in the Premier League this season will secure qualification for Europe’s premier club competition.

Liverpool are edging closer to the Premier League title, while Arsenal are strong contenders for second. However, just four points separate third-placed Manchester City from Aston Villa in seventh.
