The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has granted approval for Max Air to resume its domestic flight operations after successfully completing an economic and safety audit.

This announcement was made by Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, in a statement on Monday.

Max Air had voluntarily suspended its domestic operations on January 29, 2025, for a 90-day period following a series of incidents involving its flights. The decision was positively received by the NCAA.

During the suspension, the NCAA conducted a comprehensive safety and economic audit of the airline. The safety audit, which took place from February 26 to 28, 2025, involved a detailed re-inspection of Max Air’s organization, procedures, personnel, and aircraft in accordance with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023.

“Based on the audit results, which confirm Max Air’s capability to maintain safe flight operations, the airline will resume domestic flights effective from midnight on March 17, 2025,” the statement read.

The NCAA also assured that it will continue to closely monitor Max Air’s operations through an enhanced surveillance program to ensure full compliance with aviation regulations.
