On April 19th, Kachi James Gallery in Enugu will open its doors to its 3rd solo exhibition called “Between The Lines”, offering art enthusiasts a glimpse into the mind of Chinedu, an artist whose journey has been shaped by a deep, personal connection to lines, patterns, and the unseen forces that link human experiences.

For Chinedu Chidebe, art has always been about connection—both in the literal and philosophical sense. His earliest influences stem from watching his father, an architect create blueprints that went on to become live buildings. As a child, he saw art become life and was mesmerized by the precision of lines, the way they intersected and formed structures, the way they could transform blank pages into possibilities. Initially drawn toward architecture himself, his creative path took an unexpected turn, leading him toward painting and self-expression.

“The human mind has no definite shape or form,” Chinedu explains. “My paintings are my interpretation of how our experiences, thoughts, and subconscious influences shape us. The lines and geometric forms represent the conscious mind—our structured, logical and connected thoughts—while the repeated eye shapes reflect the subconscious; always watching, always recording.”
