Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has invited the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, along with other lawmakers, to a crucial meeting.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday at the Governor’s Office in the Government House, Port Harcourt.
This was revealed in a letter dated March 7, which was obtained by The Telegraph on Sunday. The letter was signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo.
In the letter, the SSG explained that the meeting follows the governor’s earlier commitment, made in a letter on March 5, 2025. The letter confirmed that Governor Fubara had received the Supreme Court judgment and directed that the Speaker and other members of the Rivers State House of Assembly be invited for the meeting.
“The purpose of the meeting,” the letter continued, “is to discuss key matters, including the provision of a suitable venue for Assembly sittings, the settlement of all outstanding remuneration or allowances for the Honourable members, the presentation of the state’s budget, and other critical issues aimed at steering the state toward progress.”
“Sequel to the above, I hereby humbly invite the Rt Hon Speaker, and all the members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to a meeting with the Governor as follows:
“Monday, March 10, 2025. Time: 10am, Venue: Office of the Governor, Government House, Port Harcourt.
“We look forward to your attendance as we work together in the interest of the people of Rivers State,” the letter added.
