The Senate suspended its rules on Tuesday to allow family members and close relatives of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah to attend a valedictory session in his honour.

During the session, Senate President Godswill Akpabio directed attention to the vacant seat of the late Anambra senator, which was draped in the Nigerian flag and surrounded by four symbolic candles.

Akpabio stated that the day was dedicated to commemorating the life and legacy of Senator Ubah, who passed away on July 26, 2024, at the age of 52.

In his tribute, Akpabio described Ubah, a businessman from Otolo, Nnewi North, as a visionary leader with deep empathy for others, particularly in his efforts to champion economic empowerment and community development.

The Senate President further noted that Ubah’s untimely passing represents a significant loss to the nation’s political landscape, creating a “huge deficit” in the country’s public service.
