President Bola Tinubu has departed Nigeria for France, kicking off a three-nation diplomatic tour that will also take him to Kenya and Rwanda.

The presidential aircraft left the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Sunday, marking the start of a trip focused on strengthening economic partnerships and attracting foreign investment.

According to the presidency, Tinubu’s first stop is France. He will then travel to Nairobi to attend the Africa–France Summit scheduled for May 11–12. The summit, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, will address key issues such as energy transition, climate action, digital transformation, and economic cooperation.

Tinubu is also expected to hold meetings with global leaders and investors on the sidelines of the summit as part of efforts to deepen Nigeria’s international economic ties.

From Kenya, the president will proceed to Kigali, Rwanda, for the Africa CEO Forum from May 14–15. The forum will bring together leading business executives and policymakers to explore investment opportunities and strategies for driving growth across the continent.

The presidency said the visit reflects Nigeria’s commitment to leveraging high-level engagements to boost economic development and expand strategic partnerships globally.
