Kashim Shettima on Saturday visited Maiduguri to commiserate with the Nigerian Army and the Borno State Government following the recent attack on military personnel in Benisheikh.

The attack resulted in the deaths of several senior officers and soldiers.

Delivering a message on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, the vice president said the nation shares in the grief of the bereaved families.

“On behalf of the President, I convey our deep and heartfelt condolences to the officers and men of the Armed Forces and allied services for the lives lost. Our hearts bleed; we grieve with the families, and indeed, the entire nation mourns the supreme sacrifice made by our gallant officers and men,” he said.

He added, “No matter how long the night is, it must give way to the light of dawn.”

Shettima reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the armed forces, as well as the families of fallen personnel and communities affected by insecurity in Borno State and other parts of the country.
