Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, a governorship aspirant in Ogun State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has praised President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to strengthening democracy and providing the leadership needed to make Nigeria great.

Obasanjo made the remarks in a statement on Tuesday, reflecting on her recent visit to the President in Lagos. The former Ogun Central Senator and Commissioner for Health described the meeting as “fruitful and memorable,” noting that their discussion focused on leadership and national development.

“Yesterday in Lagos, I had the privilege of meeting His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” she said. “Our conversation was insightful and forward-looking, centering on leadership, governance, and the ongoing development of our nation and Ogun State. I sincerely thank the President for his time, wisdom, and his enduring commitment to strengthening our democracy and supporting the next generation of leaders.”

Obasanjo reaffirmed her commitment to the 2027 governorship race, emphasizing experience, integrity, and a people-centered approach. “The journey continues with purpose, clarity, and dedication to Ogun State,” she said.

On her vision for succeeding Governor Dapo Abiodun, Obasanjo stressed the importance of experience in governance. “I understand the aspirations and challenges of our people,” she said. “What Ogun State needs now is leadership that comprehends the people and is committed to transforming every sector of our economy.”

She outlined her priorities if elected, including strengthening education, improving healthcare delivery, and creating employment opportunities for youths. “We must build a state where young people have jobs, schools produce future leaders, and health institutions adequately meet citizens’ needs. My commitment is to ensure that every part of Ogun State experiences real development and improved quality of life.”
