Onyejeocha resigns as Minister of State for Labour

Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha
Hon. Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha has officially resigned as the Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment.

She announced her decision on Friday via her official X account, describing her resignation not as an end, but as a new beginning. Alongside her post, she shared a formal message of gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ministry staff, her constituents, and Nigerians, framing her departure as the close of one chapter and the start of another in public service.

“It is with a heart full of gratitude that I announce my resignation as Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment,” Onyejeocha wrote. “This decision comes with profound appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the opportunity to serve Nigeria in his administration. This is not an end but a new beginning. I remain committed to service, to progress, and to building the Nigeria we all deserve. Thank you, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Her resignation aligns with President Tinubu’s directive that political appointees seeking elective positions in 2027 must step down. Onyejeocha, who represented Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency for 16 years (2007–2023), intends to reclaim her former House of Representatives seat.

Her departure leaves Abia State as the only state without representation in Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council, signaling early political realignments ahead of the next election cycle.
