Plateau govt relaxes curfew in Jos North

Caleb Mutfwang, Governor of Plateau State
The Plateau State Government has relaxed the 48-hour curfew imposed on Jos North Local Government Area following the recent violent attack in Angwan Rukuba, citing a return to relative calm.

In a statement issued on Tuesday evening, the government, led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, said the decision followed security assessments indicating an improvement in the situation.

Under the new directive, movement will now be permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily, effective from April 1, 2026, to allow residents resume essential activities.

The government urged residents to make use of the window responsibly while strictly adhering to all security guidelines.

It also emphasised the need for continued vigilance, calling on citizens to remain calm and law-abiding as security agencies sustain patrols and surveillance to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

Authorities assured that efforts were ongoing to consolidate peace and avert further unrest in the area.

The statement, signed by Joyce Lohya Ramnap, commended residents for their resilience and cooperation during the restriction period, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
