The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) led by Abdulrahman Mohammed.
Mohammed’s faction of the opposition party is backed by Nyesom Wike Other recognised members of the NWC include Senator Samuel Anyanwu (National Secretary); Ahmed Mohammed (National Treasurer); Daniel Woyengikuro (National Financial Secretary); and Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN (National Legal Adviser).
The recognition comes a day after the PDP held its national convention at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. At the event, Mohammed and other NWC members were elected by over 2,000 delegates from all 36 states.
Notable attendees included former Senate President Bukola Saraki, as well as former governors Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Samuel Ortom (Benue), among others.
The PDP remains divided into two factions. The faction led by Kabiru Turaki had approached the Supreme Court seeking to restrain the Wike-backed group from holding the national convention.
