Golf legend Tiger Woods has been released on bail after being arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) following a car crash in Florida.

According to Sky Sports on Saturday, Woods’s vehicle overturned on Friday afternoon while attempting to overtake a trailer near his Florida residence. The 15-time major winner and the driver of the other vehicle involved walked away uninjured.

Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said Woods showed “signs of impairment” at the scene, prompting his arrest after roadside testing. Investigators noted he appeared “lethargic,” suspecting possible effects from medication. A breathalyser test returned negative, but Woods declined to provide a urine sample.

He was held for approximately eight hours at a county jail before being released on bond in the early hours of Saturday. Woods was charged with driving under the influence, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test. Sheriff Budensiek clarified that none of the charges are felonies.

The sheriff added that Woods was driving at a high speed before his vehicle tipped onto its side and slid a distance to a stop. The speed limit on the residential road was 30 miles per hour. Photos from the scene showed the car resting on its driver’s side, highlighting the severity of the crash.

This incident adds to Woods’s history of traffic-related accidents. In 2017, he was arrested in Florida on suspicion of DUI and later pleaded guilty to reckless driving. He also survived a near-fatal crash in California in 2021 that caused multiple leg injuries and required extensive surgery.

Authorities said the latest crash occurred as Woods attempted to overtake a vehicle before clipping its trailer and overturning.
