Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has passed away.
Her death was announced on Friday by her grandson in a Facebook post.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. From Allah SWT we came and to Him we shall all return. I would like to inform the public of the demise of my grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who passed away a few hours ago,” he wrote.
He prayed for her soul and expressed gratitude for her life, adding: “We are grateful for the life she lived and may Allah SWT bless her gentle soul. May He bless the souls of the parents we have lost. On behalf of our family, we seek your prayers. Thank you.”
Details surrounding her death were not immediately available at the time of filing this report.
The announcement comes amid ongoing legal proceedings involving Nasir El-Rufai, who is currently in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission following his re-arrest after initial detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
