The leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Sunday welcomed prominent opposition figures to his residence in Kano as part of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

Among the guests were former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson. The gathering at Kwankwaso’s Miller Road residence attracted supporters and well-wishers, creating a festive atmosphere across the Kano metropolis.

Coinciding with the annual Kwankwasiyya Sallah festivities, the event provided an opportunity for the political leaders to exchange greetings with Kwankwaso and join Muslim faithful in the celebrations.

During the visit, Obi extended Sallah greetings to Muslims nationwide and encouraged Nigerians to actively participate in the 2027 general elections as a path to national improvement. He also described Kwankwaso as “a great leader and a man of the people.”

The meeting comes amid ongoing political realignments within Nigeria’s opposition, sparking discussions about potential collaborations ahead of the next general elections. However, no formal announcements were made during the event.
