ADC begins sale of nomination forms ahead of party convention

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has opened the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms ahead of its 2026 Ward, Local Government, State Congresses, and National Convention. The party is inviting members interested in contesting any elective position to purchase the relevant forms, a notice signed by National Organising Secretary Pa Idigo and shared via X on Sunday confirmed.

At the ward level, the Expression of Interest form costs N2,000, while nomination fees are N10,000 for Ward Chairman, N5,000 for Ward Secretary, and N3,000 for other ward officers. At the local government level, LGA Chairman forms are N40,000, LGA Secretary N30,000, and other LGA officers N10,000 each. For state-level positions, State Chairman forms are N500,000, State Secretary N300,000, and other state officers N50,000 each. For the National Convention, nomination fees are N10,000 per delegate, with each LGA required to send one delegate.

Each aspirant must secure the required number of nominators, and each nominator must pay a non-refundable fee of N50. Ward Chairman candidates must have 10 nominators, while other ward officers require five each. At the LGA level, chairman aspirants are required to have 20 nominators spread across the local government area, and other LGA officers must secure 10 each. State Chairman candidates must obtain 50 nominators from across the state, with at least one from each LGA, while other state officers require 20 nominators each.

“The sale and submission of the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will close on Friday, 27th March 2026. No late submissions will be accepted,” the notice stated. Screening is scheduled for 30th to 31st March 2026, and all aspirants are urged to comply strictly with the published guidelines.

The Telegraph reports that this follows the release of ADC’s timetable for the 2026 congresses. According to Idigo, polling unit and ward congresses will hold on April 7, local government area congresses on April 9, and state congresses on April 11, culminating in the National Convention on April 14.
