Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has made significant changes to Nigeria’s squad ahead of upcoming international friendlies, leaving out several key players, including star striker Victor Osimhen and first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

The Nigeria Football Federation announced a 23-man roster on Wednesday, blending experienced campaigners with fresh talent. Captain Wilfred Ndidi will lead the midfield alongside Alex Iwobi, while Ademola Lookman is expected to spearhead the attack in Osimhen’s absence.

Other notable absentees from the AFCON pool include goalkeeper Amas Obasogie; defenders Chidozie Awaziem and Ryan Alebiosu; midfielders Muhammed Usman, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, and Tochukwu Nnadi; and forwards Salim Fago Lawal and Cyriel Dessers.

The Super Eagles will face Iran on March 27 and Jordan on March 31, with both matches now set to take place in Antalya, Turkey, following the relocation from Amman due to the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East.

In goal, Maduka Okoye returns to challenge for the starting spot, with Adeleye Adebayo also recalled and Francis Uzoho completing the options.

The defense combines experience and youth, featuring the recalled Semi Ajayi and newcomer Emmanuel Fernandez, who earns his first senior call-up. Midfield duties will be handled by Ndidi, Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, Raphael Onyedika, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

Up front, Chelle has opted for a mix of proven scorers and emerging talent, including Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Chidera Ejuke, Paul Onuachu, and Akor Adams. Newcomers Philip Otele (Germany-based) and Collins Yira Sor (Belgium-based) have also been rewarded for strong club performances.
