Man caught on video trying to lure child hawker with ₦1,000 for sex

A disturbing incident has sparked outrage after a man was caught allegedly attempting to lure a young girl hawking avocados with ₦1,000 for sexual purposes.

The episode, captured in a viral video, was shared by content creator LordZeus on Instagram on Monday, who confronted the suspect.

When questioned, the man denied the allegation, claiming to be the girl’s father. However, the child contradicted him, stating that he approached her and asked her to follow him to a secluded area to “touch body,” offering ₦1,000. She added that when she refused, the man produced the cash in an attempt to persuade her.

During the confrontation, some bystanders defended the suspect, claiming he was mentally unstable and alleging that the girl was not the first child he had approached. “Leave him, he’s not well,” one voice said in the video.

LordZeus challenged this defence, questioning why alleged mental illness should excuse such behaviour toward a minor.

He also used the incident to caution parents against sending young girls to hawk alone. “Parents, please, no matter how hard life gets, do not allow your girl child especially those underage to hawk on the streets alone. If they must hawk, accompany them,” he wrote.

“They are constantly at risk of sexual harassment, and many will never speak up. I’ve hawked before, so I know exactly what life on the street is like. Imagine if this man had succeeded in manipulating the little girl with just ₦1,000, this would have been unimaginable.
