Tinubu promotes Ibrahim Masari to special adviser on political affairs

President Bola Tinubu has promoted Ibrahim Masari from Senior Special Assistant to Special Adviser on Political Affairs.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the elevation in a statement on Thursday.

According to Onanuga, Masari will serve alongside Yau Darazo, who was appointed Special Adviser on Political Affairs in July 2023.

Masari, a close ally of the President, was initially appointed as Senior Special Assistant on Political Affairs in 2023.

The Katsina-born politician previously served as welfare secretary of the All Progressives Congress during the tenure of Adams Oshiomhole as the party’s national chairman.

The position of Special Adviser ranks higher than that of Senior Special Assistant in the presidential hierarchy, with advisers typically handling broader strategic responsibilities and maintaining closer access to the President.

Masari has remained a key figure within Tinubu’s political network and has played notable roles in the activities of the ruling party, particularly in the North-West region.

His appointment does not require confirmation by the Senate, as presidential aides serve at the discretion of the President.
