The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it has tracked 35 Federal Government projects valued at ₦4.61 billion in Zamfara State as part of efforts to ensure value for money.

The team leader of the exercise, Dr. Murtala Bankano, disclosed this at a news briefing in Gusau on Saturday.

He explained that the tracking was conducted under the Constituency and Executive Project Tracking Initiative (CEPTI), a programme designed by the commission in collaboration with the Budget Office of the Federation. Other partners include the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), the media and other key stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of federal projects nationwide.

According to Bankano, the projects assessed under the phase eight tracking exercise in Zamfara span six sectors: education, health, water resources, power, empowerment and agriculture.

He noted that while some of the projects were at various stages of completion, others required urgent attention. He urged contractors handling the affected projects to return to site and address identified issues.

“Although we are awaiting the NIQS report to determine the precise status of the projects under review, we are directing all contractors with outstanding issues to return to site immediately,” he said.

Bankano added that the ICPC’s objective under the initiative is to ensure that constituency and executive projects are executed in line with approved standards and deliver tangible benefits to citizens.
