The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially launched its Digital Certificate Services System, WAEC DigiCert, across its five member countries: Nigeria, Ghana, The Gambia, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
The announcement was made in a statement on Monday, signed by Demianus Ojijeogu, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC Headquarters in Accra, Ghana, on behalf of the Registrar.
WAEC described the platform as a “mobile and web-based application offering significant benefits to candidates, schools, and other stakeholders.” The system enables users to access, request, verify, or share digital versions of their original certificates, and even recover lost WAEC examination numbers.
The Council assured users that the system is secure, reliable, and cost-effective, noting that its authenticity is guaranteed. Following a successful pilot in Nigeria, WAEC DigiCert received “positive feedback from candidates and educational institutions worldwide.”
WAEC encouraged the public to adopt the platform to streamline certificate access and avoid delays associated with manual issuance, while clarifying that the traditional printing and distribution of certificates will continue unaffected.
The mobile app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, and additional information can be accessed via WAEC’s official website and social media channels.
In a related update, WAEC also released the 2025 Second Series Computer-Based WASSCE results for private candidates, which can be checked at www.waecdirect.org. Candidates can then access their digital certificates through www.waec.org
