The Adamawa State Government has finalized arrangements to receive Bola Tinubu for a one-day official visit on Monday, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. James Iliya, announced.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Yola, Iliya described the visit as a recognition of the developmental strides achieved under the administration of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri. He added that the president’s visit would coincide with the inauguration of several key infrastructural projects executed by the Fintiri-led government.
“The visit reflects national acknowledgment of the state government’s commitment to improving citizens’ living standards through strategic investments across critical sectors,” Iliya said.
Among the projects slated for commissioning are the newly constructed underpass at the former Bekaji Roundabout, the expanded Bank Road in Yola, and a model school in Yola North Local Government Area, one of 21 newly built model schools across the state.
“The president is also expected to perform the groundbreaking ceremony for a new NYSC permanent orientation camp in Malkohi, commission the ultra-modern High Court Complex, unveil the automated gate at Government House, and inaugurate the newly constructed Governor’s Office complex,” Iliya added.
He noted that these initiatives span vital sectors, including education, infrastructure, justice, governance, security, healthcare, and human capital development.
Iliya called on residents to remain law-abiding and conduct themselves peacefully during the president’s visit. He urged citizens, regardless of political affiliation, to turn out in large numbers to demonstrate Adamawa’s hospitality and unity.
Security preparations have been intensified ahead of Tinubu’s visit, with the Adamawa State Police Command deploying personnel and operational assets across the state following a strategic meeting with security commanders.
The Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, directed the deployment of units including the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Surveillance Squad, and Crowd/Traffic Control Unit. The teams will also conduct covert surveillance operations throughout the state to ensure a safe and orderly visit.
