Chippa United have confirmed the departure of Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, who formally requested to leave the South African club.

In a statement shared on its official X account on Thursday, the Port Elizabeth-based side said the 28-year-old shot-stopper’s request was granted after due consideration by club management.

“Chippa United Football Club confirms that Stanley Nwabali has formally submitted a request to depart the club. After careful consideration, the club has agreed to grant his release,” the statement read.

The club also expressed gratitude to Nwabali for his service.

“We sincerely thank Stanley Nwabali for his years of service, commitment, and professionalism during his time at Chippa United. His contributions to the club will always be appreciated,” the statement added.

Chippa United wished the Nigerian international success in the next stage of his career.

Nwabali joined Chippa United in 2022 and gained wider recognition following his impressive performances for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where the Super Eagles finished as runners-up.

His next destination has not yet been officially announced.
