Amosun advocates rotational presidency, backs Tinubu’s re-election

Ibikunle Amosun
Former Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has urged Nigerians to uphold the principle of rotational presidency ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasizing justice, equity, and fairness.

Amosun made the call while addressing supporters during his 68th birthday celebration at the Ake Palace Pavilion in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He encouraged Nigerians to give continued support to President Bola Tinubu’s administration and reassured his followers that his next political move would be announced soon.

The former governor said President Tinubu’s leadership was not only in the interest of the South-West but also the nation as a whole.

“In the interest of Nigeria, we must respect rotation. The North has had eight years under President Muhammadu Buhari. Now it is the South’s turn with President Tinubu. Anyone who truly loves Nigeria should support this arrangement,” Amosun said.

“He represents all of us in the South and indeed Nigeria. My support is not for personal interest, but because it is in the nation’s interest,” he added.

Amosun also called on All Progressives Congress (APC) members across Ogun State to remain loyal to the party’s structure. He expressed confidence in Tinubu’s economic reforms and policy direction, describing them as challenging but necessary steps toward national development and economic recovery.
