Paternity claim unnecessary, DNA tests cleared Davido — Adeleke

Adedeji Adeleke, father of Afrobeats star Davido, has described the renewed paternity claims involving his son as unnecessary, stating that multiple DNA test results show that 12-year-old Anuoluwapo is not the singer’s child.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, Adeleke said his son could not be held responsible for a child that is not biologically his, but stressed that the girl deserves clarity about her true parentage.

According to him, no fewer than five DNA tests have been conducted over the years to determine the child’s paternity, all of which returned negative results.

“Davido has never denied fathering any of his children,” Adeleke said, adding that the singer’s position on the matter has been consistent.

Despite the outcome of the tests, Adeleke revealed that he had personally supported Anuoluwapo financially, including paying her school fees and contributing to her upkeep. He said he maintained contact with the child’s aunt, who regularly sent receipts and proof of expenses incurred on the girl’s behalf.

The businessman explained that he covered the child’s educational expenses until last year and did so privately, without informing Davido or other family members.

“I did not discuss it with David or anybody,” he said.

The long-running paternity dispute resurfaced in mid-January after Anuoluwapo appealed on Instagram for a fresh DNA test. In her post, the teenager cited years of bullying, ridicule, and emotional distress from classmates over claims that Davido is her father.

Davido has repeatedly denied paternity, maintaining that five separate DNA tests conducted at different hospitals confirmed he is not the child’s father. He also stated that his father insisted on the tests to ensure transparency.

However, the child’s mother, Ayotomide Labinjoh, has disputed the claim of multiple tests, insisting that only one DNA test was conducted in 2014 and alleging that it was compromised at the clinic where it was carried out.

Labinjoh has called for a fresh, independent DNA test and requested that it be supervised by the United States Embassy or the U.S. State Department, citing Davido’s American citizenship as a basis for ensuring credibility and transparency.
