Senegal were crowned champions of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday night after defeating hosts Morocco 1–0 after extra time in the final played in Rabat.
The decisive goal came in the 94th minute, when Pape Gueye struck to break the deadlock following a tense contest that ended goalless after regulation time.
The final was marred by prolonged stoppages after a late VAR review awarded Morocco a controversial penalty. The spot-kick, taken by Brahim Diaz, was saved by Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, preserving the stalemate and heightening tensions inside the stadium.
Despite sustained late pressure from the hosts, Senegal remained resolute to secure the title and bring the tournament to a dramatic close.
Following the final, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) released the official list of team and individual award winners.

Sadio Mané was named Player of the Tournament after leading Senegal to the title, scoring two goals and playing a pivotal role across the competition.
Brahim Diaz finished as the tournament’s top scorer with five goals in seven matches, while Yassine Bounou claimed the Best Goalkeeper award following a series of decisive performances.
