Gunmen attack national park service office in Oyo, kill five

Gunmen, suspected to be bandits, attacked the National Park Service (NPS) office in Oloka, Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State, on Tuesday night, resulting in the deaths of five NPS officials.

The incident was confirmed by the Oyo State Police Command on Wednesday.

Spokesperson Ayanlade Olayinka said security operatives are en route to the scene to restore order.

“Yes, there was an attack by yet-to-be-identified men against the men of the National Park. The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, and other service chiefs are currently on their way to the location. Meanwhile, tactical teams, Mobile Police Force officers, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal units have been deployed to prevent further breakdown of law and order,” Olayinka stated.

As of Wednesday, the bodies of the victims had not yet been recovered, as they are believed to be in the surrounding forest area.
