NYSC sets date for 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I orientation camp

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course will commence nationwide on Wednesday, January 21, across all 37 NYSC orientation camps.

In a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, the scheme said camp registration for all prospective corps members will run from Wednesday, January 21, to midnight on Friday, January 23, 2026.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Friday, January 23, while the closing ceremony will hold on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, wished prospective corps members safe journeys to their states of deployment and advised them to avoid travelling at night.

NYSC management also urged corps members to strictly adhere to the orientation schedule to ensure a smooth and successful programme.

Established in 1973 to promote national unity and integration in the aftermath of the Nigerian Civil War, the NYSC scheme begins with a mandatory three-week orientation camp.

During the orientation period, corps members undergo paramilitary drills, participate in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, attend lectures on national issues, and take part in cultural and social activities aimed at fostering unity across ethnic and religious lines.
