A high-capacity bus caught fire on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State on Tuesday, causing traffic disruption.
The bus, reportedly heading towards Iyana Oworo, ignited near the Adekunle axis of the bridge. As of the time of reporting, it was unclear if there were any casualties.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has been deployed to contain the blaze, while the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident on X.
“A high-capacity bus is on fire on the Third Mainland Bridge, by Adekunle, inwards Iyana Oworo, affecting traffic,” LASTMA stated. “Efforts are ongoing to put out the fire, and our officers are on scene managing the traffic situation.”
Motorists are advised to expect delays and exercise caution while traveling on the bridge.
