Tinubu departs Lagos for Europe ahead of Abu Dhabi summit

President Bola Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe, the Presidency has said.

The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that Tinubu will continue his end-of-year break in Europe ahead of an official visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

According to the statement, President Tinubu has been invited by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to participate in the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026), scheduled to hold in early January.

The week-long summit is an annual global forum that brings together leaders from government, business, and civil society to shape the future of sustainable development.

With the theme “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” ADSW 2026 will focus on advancing solutions across innovation, finance, and human capital, highlighting pathways for global progress and resilience.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the summit.
