Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, deployed at Maraba Apawa, have successfully rescued a kidnapped victim following credible intelligence on suspected kidnappers operating around Yaja Village in Lau Local Government Area, Taraba State.
The operation, carried out on 11 December 2025, followed a distress report on the movement of the kidnappers. Acting with speed and precision, the troops launched a hot pursuit mission, applying sustained tactical pressure that forced the criminals to abandon their victim.
The rescued individual, Alhaji Shuaibu, 40, a resident of Yelwata community in Ardo-Kola LGA, had been kidnapped on 9 December 2025.
Reacting to the successful operation, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their prompt response, professionalism, and resilience. He said the rescue underscores the Brigade’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Taraba State.
Brigadier General Uwa reaffirmed that the Brigade remains fully prepared to deny criminals any safe haven and stressed that all forms of kidnapping, banditry, and violent crime will continue to attract swift and decisive military action.
He also assured residents of a peaceful and secure festive season, urging them to remain vigilant and continue providing timely information to support ongoing security operations.
The Nigerian Army thanked the public for their cooperation and reiterated its resolve to maintain lasting peace and stability across Taraba State and its environs.
