Adeleke emerges as Accord Party governorship candidate

The Screening Committee of the Accord Party has declared Governor Ademola Adeleke as the sole aspirant for the party’s governorship ticket.

The committee’s chairman and the party’s National Organising Secretary, Ibe Thankgod, confirmed this in a statement, noting that Adeleke met all the requirements for nomination and had been duly cleared as the party’s sole candidate. He described the governor as a “worthy gubernatorial aspirant” of the Accord Party.

The committee formally presented Adeleke’s certificate of clearance to him on Wednesday in Osogbo.

In his response, Adeleke thanked the committee and the party leadership, expressing confidence ahead of the election season.

“I am ready for the primary, and I am ready for the general elections. We are winning, by God’s grace,” he said.

Adeleke defected to the Accord Party on Tuesday after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party on December 2.
