Chelsea were held to a goalless draw by Bournemouth on Saturday, bringing an end to their run of scoring in every Premier League game since the opening weekend.
The stalemate did, however, extend the Blues’ unbeaten away streak in all competitions to seven matches (five wins, two draws).
Bournemouth, winless in their previous five league outings, started the brighter of the two sides. Antoine Semenyo appeared to have ended his goal drought inside four minutes, only for his finish to be ruled out for a marginal offside.
Chelsea gradually settled but offered little threat, particularly after Liam Delap was forced off with an injury in the 32nd minute.
The Cherries looked the more dangerous throughout the first half, with Robert Sánchez producing a crucial save to deny Evanilson from close range just before the interval. Chelsea failed to register a single shot on target before the break.
The visitors improved marginally in the second half but still struggled to break down Bournemouth’s organised back line. Clear-cut chances remained scarce, with both sides creating late half-openings without finding a decisive moment.
Chelsea ended the match with 54% possession and 10 attempts, only two of which were on target. Bournemouth recorded eight shots, three on target, but also lacked the finishing touch.
The result leaves Chelsea sixth in the Premier League table, while Bournemouth remain near the relegation zone and still searching for their first win in weeks.
